A Memorable Zoom Meeting with Author Olumide Popoola

  24. Januar 2025

On 11th December 2024, we, as the Q1 English LK of Mr. Büscher, had the pleasure of joining a Zoom meeting with Olumide Popoola,

the author of the novel "When We Speak of Nothing" that we were reading in class. Even though the novel of hers is not well known, it still does a good job dealing with the topics of friendship, identity and self-discovery.

The meeting began with Popoola introducing herself. The whole zoom meeting was more like a Question & Answer session. We as a course decided to pick two moderators to lead the conversation. We all had prepared some questions and Popoola did answer every single one of them, like where she imagines the main character to be in 10 years.

Popoola was very casual, and we all enjoyed talking to her. Someone said it was like talking to a friend. We even had enough time to recommend some German rappers for her to listen to. The session concluded with a lot of laughter and sharing our thoughts about the book. We all are really happy that this meeting could take place in our English class.
